Newel Stair Caps for Newel Posts
These Caps are designed to fit onto an new or existing Newel Post with a flat top. The Caps are rebated on the underside to fit over 70mm or 82mm Full, Double or Half Newel Posts.
All caps are supplied ready for you to apply your chosen finish unless otherwise specified.
Choose from the following timbers
- Scandinavian Pine – Softwood. A yellowish wood with knots and natural character. All knots are sound and live. Suitable for staining, varnishing or painting
- Hemlock – Softwood. Light brown in colour. Naturally a clear material free of knots, however expect some black streak as natural character. Suitable for varnish, stain, oil or painting (please contact us direct for prices)
- White Primed – Timber core with high grade primer applied ready for top coat of paint (please contact us direct for prices)
- White Oak – Hardwood. Light brown clear timber with very small knot if any. Will turn golden brown when finishing in either oil, wax, stain or varnish.

Our Newel Post Caps are available in either Full, Half or Double Options. Rebate sizes to fit 70mm and 82mm Newel Posts (use the drop-down box above to select an option)
Flat Style Newel Post Caps
70mm
- 70mm Full Cap measures 95mm x 95mm. Half Cap measures 95mm x 45mm. Double Cap measures 166mm x 95mm
- All 70mm Flat Style caps have a 27mm depth.
82mm
- 82mm Full Cap measures 106mm x 106mm. Half Cap measures 106mm x 54mm. Double Cap measures 190mm x 106mm
- All 82mm Flat Style caps have a 27mm depth.
Pyramid Style Newel Post Caps
70mm
- 70mm Full Cap measures 98mm x 98mm. Half Cap measures 98mm x 47mm. Double Cap measures 166mm x 98mm
- All 70mm Pyramid Style Caps have a 47mm depth.
82mm
- 82mm Full Cap measures 109mm x 109mm. Half Cap measures 106mm x 54mm. Double Cap measures 190mm x 109mm
- All 82mm Pyramid Style Caps have a 47mm depth.
Our Newel Posts do not come with Newel Caps. Choose the style of cap you like to finish the post off.

Newel Post Cap Fitting
We recommend fixing with a hard setting adhesive or suitable wood glue.
